Gastro -resistant tablets
Alaxa tablets are used in the short -lived treatment of occasional constipation.
Dosage and methods of use
Alaxa tablets must be used according to the following doses:
- Adults: 2 tablets a day; In particularly stubborn cases, 3 tablets.
- Children over 3 years: 1-2 tablets per day (0.3 mg/kg) under the direct control of the doctor.
The correct dose is the minimum sufficient to produce an easy evacuation of soft feces. It is advisable to initially use the minimal doses provided. When necessary, the dose can then be increased, but without ever exceeding the maximum indicated one. The laxatives must be used as frequently possible and for no more than seven days. The use for more periods of time requires the prescription of the doctor after adequate evaluation of the individual case. The tablets must be swallowed whole, together with an adequate amount of water (a abundant glass). A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine. The tablets must preferably be administered after the evening meal, so that the effect of the laxative, which is produced after 10-12 hours, does not disturb sleep. If the intake takes place on an empty stomach, the laxative effect occurs within about 5 hours.
Take Alaxa gastroORESTENTS tablets at least 1 hour after taking milk or antacids and at least two hours after the oral intake of other medicines.
Contraindications
- Individual hypersensitivity ascertained towards the components of the product.
- The laxatives are contraindicated in subjects with acute abdominal pain or of unknown origin, nausea or vomiting, obstruction or intestinal stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, severe state of dehydration, acute surgical abdomen, appendicitis, gastroenteritis.
- The tablets are contraindicated in children under the age of 3
- The suppositories are contraindicated in cases of anal fissures and ulcers (perianal pain and bleeding can occur).
- Generally contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Special Warnings
The abuse of laxatives (frequent or prolonged use or with excessive doses) can diarrhea persistent diarrhea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients. In severe cases, the onset of dehydration or hypototaxiemia is possible, which can determine cardiac dysfunctions or neuromuscular, especially in the event of contemporary treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids.
The frequent or prolonged use of the medicine must be avoided since it can cause absuefation and atonica colitis. The abuse of laxatives, also, especially those of contact, (stimulating laxatives), can cause dependence (and therefore, possible need to gradually increase the dosage), chronic constipation and loss of normal intestinal functions (intestinal atony).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
There are no adequate and well controlled studies on the use of Alaxa tablets in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Therefore the medicine must be used only in case of need, under the direct control of the doctor, after evaluating the expected benefit for the mother in relation to the possible risk for the fetus or for the infant.
